Snow!

Seeing as how I'm usually panicking in my car when the snow seems to arrive in Portland, 

I couldn't pass up a stress free walk in the snow when it came down today!

holiday baking

This weekend consisted of all things Christmas.

On Saturday, Stephen and I baked and decorated gingerbread cookies.

It was my first attempt at using baking bags for the frosting.

Verdict: While they are a pain in the butt, the ease of frosting is well worth the hassle.

On Sunday, I finally got the courage to make meringues.

I took it up a notch and used my frosting decorating to make star-shaped meringues and then added red and green sprinkles.

Our house is completely decorated, smelling of cinnamon and pine, and full of holiday spirit!

And can I just say this is my favorite Christmas tree to date.

Let the holiday season begin!

holiday silhouettes.

Using a template of holiday silhouettes, I printed them out on cardstock and covered them with Martha Stewart tinsel glitter.

Next, I bought mini clothespins and sprayed them with white acrylic paint.

I chose to fix the strand of completed silhouettes to a strand of garland.

Here is a simple DIY holiday decoration that we've all seen.

Using ribbon strips, I did a twist on the paper garland I made as a child.

I'm sure using a hot glue gun rather than a stapler would have produced a nicer finish, but let's face it. I was lazy.

Nevertheless, I'm quite pleased with the end result!

Third year was a charm for the annual thanksgiving potluck I throw with my wonderful friends.

The turkey was delicious and done on time. 

I'm so very thankful for them.

I love the idea of a headband, but I never wear headbands so it feels unnatural.

We have officially started researching the countries we want to visit for our honeymoon.

It's extremely daunting!

But Austria and the Netherlands are the two we want to see!

I would love to incorporate succulents into our wedding cake somehow. I love the mixture of colors in this cake. 

I'm not a huge fan of the ribbon line tiers though.

But it's a start.

Oh I love this idea of using old frames to create serving trays. 

It has a lovely vintage feel to it.

I will have to do this before my next get together.

And as a cake? Genius.
