Over Memorial Day weekend, Stephen and I took the long drive up to Leavenworth, Washington. It is this adorable town modeled after Bavaria. We have longed for German culture after our honeymoon and this was the next best thing. After the 6 hour drive, we checked into our hotel and then walked around the downtown area.
On a side note: I cannot stress how committed the town is to this theme, from the 76 gas station to the local lawyer's office, every building and sign looked Bavarian.
We did a little bit of shopping, relaxed, then had dinner at Cafe Mozart for our first authentic German meal (a post on food later). It was delicious and boasted one of our favorite meals ever with their unique French pastry potatoes. We finished off the night strolling through the streets and came upon a miniature golf course. We couldn't resist.
